Unique design maintains ICH uniformity even during defrost cycles
WILSON, N.C. – The stability storage division of Parameter Generation & Control has expanded its capabilities to include minus-20-degree-celsius (-20°C) freezers.
Parameter Stability Storage, a cGMP facility located in Wilson, N.C., stores products that require environmental conditions specified by the International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH). Its storage rooms and chambers have been mapped and validated for U.S. Food and Drug Administration-mandated long- and short-term shelf-life studies under various temperature and humidity requirements.
The new minus-20-degree-celsius (-20°C) freezers provide tight overall chamber uniformity of ±0.85°C, excluding the defrost cycle.
Designed by Parameter Generation & Control, the units feature the unique ability to remain in ICH uniformity specification even while running defrost cycles. Mapping on the chambers was executed with the temperature sensor in the air stream, not in glycol or other heat sink, according to Clay Hile, president and CEO.
“Our business is experiencing increased demand from biotech industries, which have very specific needs when it comes to their genetic and biopharmaceutical applications,” Hile said. “These new units, proprietary to our company, deliver the stability and security critical for such products.”
In addition, Parameter Stability Storage has added two new temperature and relative humidity (RH) rooms. Each room comes with a back-up conditioner and back-up gas generator. Capabilities include 25°C/60% RH, 30°C/60% RH, 30°C/65% RH, 40°C/75% RH, 30°C/75% RH, 25°C/40% RH and 5°C.
